Australian Native Birds at home and on holidays inspire many of the ceramic garden birds I make., says Lisa Hoelzl. Sometimes she also creates fantasy birds of mixed gender and species. More recently she is translating the two-dimensional paintings of early colonial bird painters into three-dimensional sculptures for her ‘Artisans in the Garden’ installation for the Royal Botanical Gardens Sydney to be held in October.

Join Ceramic Artist, Lisa Hoelzl to learn to form and texture then paint ceramic birds from photographs or your imagination.

At the end of the day you’ll create 4-6  ‘birds of a feather,’ maybe they flock together but either way, you have made them and …. you’ll love them – perfect inside the house or outside. The birds you have glazed are now ready to go in the kiln. Two weeks later your birds will be ready for collection from SaltbushCollective studio.

While you’re working away on your birds, we will keep you topped up with fragrant teas, plunger coffee, and flavoursome fruit drinks.

You’ll need to bring along an apron to protect your clothing.
